In this class, participants will be introduced to the diagnosis of OCD and major treatment strategies, drawing from CBT, ERP (Exposure Therapy), and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). Through this interactive live webinar, participants will learn how to recognize the signs and symptoms of OCD, particularly less well-known manifestations, explore the behavioral mechanisms that maintain these symptoms and learn the basic tenets of effective treatment modalities for OCD and how to apply them as well as common obstacles to OCD treatment and methods of addressing them. This course will incorporate didactics, live discussion and case examples and formulations as tools for instruction.

  - Define OCD including explanation of diagnostic criteria, differential diagnosis, types and features of OCD, comorbidity and related disorders                                     

- Describe causes of OCD including the etiology and the Maintenance Model               

- Explain and identify treatments for OCD including, psychodynamic and cognitive therapies, Exposure Therapy (ERP), Inhibitory Learning Model and Acceptance and Commitment Recognize special considerations involved in treating OCD Therapy (ACT)

Dr. Steve Weissman

Dr. Steve Weissman has spent 16 years in private practice working with people struggling to improve their lives by reclaiming the hours spent worrying, obsessing, repeating things over and over, or feeling stuck and demoralized by how hard everything seems to be. He is an expert in the treatment of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), related conditions such as Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) and Hoarding Disorder, social anxiety, phobias, panic attacks, and other forms of anxiety. He is also an experienced DBT therapist, integrating the mindfulness and emotion regulation aspects of DBT with effective approaches to OCD and anxiety. Steve completed his undergraduate degree at Cornell University, his doctorate at St. John's University, and his post-doctoral fellowship in clinical child psychology at Long Island Jewish Medical Center.

Course Completion Requirements:
 
To earn CE credit, social workers and mental health clinicians must log in at the scheduled time, attend the entire course and complete both the online posttest and course evaluation. Upon completion of the live course, you will be immediately prompted to complete the posttest and then the course evaluation. Once you receive a passing score of 80% or above (you will have an unlimited number of attempts to take the posttest), you will be prompted to complete the course evaluation. Participants will have a 24-hour time window from the end of the live course, within which both the posttest and the course evaluation must be completed in order to receive credit. A certificate of completion will appear within your bhava-therapy.thinkific.com account and you will receive an email congratulations message and link to your Certificate of Completion as well.

Refund Policy

Refunds for live in-person courses are offered up to 1 week in advance of the course start date. Refunds for live online courses are offered up to 24 hours prior to the start of the course. Refunds are issued in the original form of payment used.  Any cancellations or requests for refunds after the 1 week or 24 hour window respectively are reviewed on a case by case basis. Requests for refunds or cancellation after the 1 week or 24 hour window, if granted, may qualify only as a credit for future courses not as a refund of the original payment used.
