Course Description

  • Loss is an essential and inevitable experience of the living that has vast ripple effects across all humanity and Loss is not related solely to death. Over the past few months, we have experienced loss of all kinds, some of which has been quite traumatic. How we understand, process and cope with our own grief will inform how we relate to our clients who are struggling to process both their individual and shared experiences of loss and grief.

Learning Objectives

  • Become familiarized with key definitions and clinical considerations for griefwork

  • Explore the different types of grief including traumatic loss and complicated grief

  • Confront the fears that can exist in meeting grief and learn about the rewards in griefwork

  • Be invited to reflect on your own experiences with loss and grief

  • Learn experiential techniques to work with loss and grief

  • Learn how to move towards a deeper acceptance of loss and grief as a natural part of life
